We are proud to be one of the highest-performing fire and rescue services in the county and are committed to the continuous improvement and learning of our own staff and the services we provide to all our communities to help us achieve our vision to make life safer for everyone that lives in, works in or visits Hampshire.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service is proud to be recognised as an Investor in People. This national award acknowledges the hard work and effort of every member of staff and the importance that the Service places upon developing its people. It assists us in identifying ways of raising the organisation's performance and provides a framework for our continuous improvement.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service is proud to be a Stonewall Diversity Champion. As a Champion we have access to best practice in policy and procedure development as well as networking opportunities with other organisations and the chance to benchmark ourselves against other organisations. All of this helps us deliver on our commitment to improve our workplace culture for both existing and potential lesbian, gay and bi-sexual employees.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service has been accredited with the ‘two tick’ Disability Symbol which recognises our commitment to good practice in employing people with disabilities.
To qualify for the symbol we have signed up to the following five commitments:
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service has further demonstrated its commitment to increasing awareness of mental health and providing support for staff and potential staff by signing up to the Charter for Employers who are Positive About Mental Health. Led and supported by employers, the MINDFUL EMPLOYER initiative is aimed at increasing awareness of mental health at work and providing support for businesses in recruiting and retaining staff.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service is committed to clear communications and has corporate membership of the Plain English Campaign.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service Information Services (IS) Department gained the BSI ISO 27001 accreditation on the 9th September 2008 with a certification period of 3 years. The ISO 27001 is the only internationally recognised standard which defines the requirements for an Information Security Management System.
This is a fantastic achievement which has been the result of nearly 2 years of hard work from every member of the IS Department and other Departments within the service.
