Statistics

This chart shows the total incidents per 10,000 population, by year.

The number of incidents this quarter has shown a drop, from that of the second quarter last year. If this continues, the total number of incidents is forecast to drop demonstrating the value of the Service's continued efforts to raise community awareness, and build on existing partnerships with other organisations/emergency services.

Two projects run over the last year focused on:

False alarms (good intent) are normally generated by members of the public who have a genuine cause for concern over the possibility of a fire or emergency that may be occuring. Subsequent investigation by the Service shows that no emergency has occurred. These types of calls are inevitable and only present a minor impact on the Service

The number of chimney fires remain very small. Safety campaigns specific to this have improved home safety and have led to a decline in the number of fires.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service will continue to develop and implement Community Fire Safety initiatives and endeavour to reduce the total number of incidents by 5% over the next 5 years from the 2003/04 baseline.
