Best value review - programme and outcomes

Results of completed best value reviews

The statutory duty placed on local authorities (which includes fire services) is to:

Make arrangements to secure continuous improvement in the way in which (their) functions are exercised, having regard to a combination of economy, efficiency and effectiveness.

This Authority takes the view that the Best Value Review Process is not just about saving money, indeed it should principally concentrate on providing qualitative services to agreed standards in the most cost effective way.

Progress towards meeting recommendations made in Best Value/ Scoping Reviews

As each review is completed, the outstanding recommendations are listed in a regular quarterly report to the Authority's Performance Review Committee.

Alongside the recommendations are the actions taken to date towards achieving the individual recommendations - as the recommendation is achieved the listing is removed.
