Revenue budget 2010/11 summary including consultation

The budget for the Authority for 2010/11 has been set at £68,160,000, which represents a 3.6% increase over the previous year. The council tax for a band D dwelling has been set at £61.38 representing a 1.8% increase over the previous year.

Basis of Preparation

The budget was prepared using a base budget position taking account of:

the original budget for 2009/10 increased to the November 2009 price base
the net cost of salary increments
changes in the cost of capital financing
full year effect of previous years’ growth
an estimate of the costs of inflation from November 2009 to March 2011

To this base was added new expenditure totalling £1,114,000, details of which are set out in the budget book.

This budget was compiled against the background of the approved Financial Management Strategy.
