Messages of condolence for Firefighter James Shears and Firefighter Alan Bannon

05.04.2011

Communities all over Hampshire were deeply shocked and distressed by the tragic incident in which Firefighter James Shears and Firefighter Alan Bannon sadly lost their lives. One year later, our thoughts and prayers are with their families at the anniversary of the tragic incident and we continue to give them all the support we can. This was a devastating loss to our Service and a loss to the whole fire service community.

The loss of any member of the emergency services is like losing your best friend - it is a unique family, particularly within the Fire and Rescue Service. Deeply shocked and saddened at this dreadful event, my thoughts are with our fallen colleagues and those left behind to remember them. The nation's hero's remembered with pride. Rest in Peace lads, never forgotten xx
