We received a call to a fire in a silo on a farm. The silo contained approximately 40 tonnes of grain. Two jets, one hose reel, and fourteen breathing apparatus were used to extinguish the fire. A considerable amount of digging out and removal of the grain was also carried out. Two appliances and the special equipment unit from Basingstoke, two appliances from Andover, one from Overton, one from Sutton Scotney, one from Alton, one from Rushmoor, and one from Whitchurch were at the incident with a total of forty three fire fighters. Four officers and a rural safety officer also attended.
