Today the International Development Secretary, Douglas Alexander, thanked Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service for its assistance in the Haitian earthquake effort.
Mr Alexander MP said:
“We should all be proud of Hampshire’s brave firefighters who worked tirelessly to help the Haitians, in difficult and dangerous conditions. I would like to thank them on behalf of the UK government. "Their work is now done, but the international aid effort continues. Aid from the UK government is already helping 350,000 Haitians to get the food, water, shelter and medical care they need. A supply ship loaded with aid, RFS Largs Bay, will shortly sail to Haiti. The UK public has shown extraordinary generosity in its response to this tragedy - their donations will make a real difference.”This page printed on 10 Sep 2010 at 21:26
