..keeping you informed
A free seminar is being held on Wednesday (17th February) from 9.30 am at Bournemouth Football Club for hoteliers, landlords and other sleeping accommodation business owners.
Hampshire and Dorset Fire and Rescue Services are supporting an event, jointly organised by the Fire Industry Association and the British Automatic Fire Sprinkler Association. It is aimed at informing and educating those responsible for providing short term and long term accommodation for the public. The seminar will include advice on fire risk assessments, sprinkler demonstrations, your legal responsibilities and also give advice on business continuity.
Damian Watts, Business Education Manager from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said:
“Fire safety legislation is designed to keep everyone associated with a business safe from fire. This is especially important where those people may be asleep. This seminar will help businesses to understand their responsibilities, provide advice on business continuity and recovery and help them to protect their business from fire. This information will be useful for all, from a small B&B to a large hotel complex.”
Damian added,
”As the 2012 Olympics approach, this would be a good time to review your fire safety arrangements, so that you are well placed to safely benefit from the opportunities that this event will offer. So now is the time to make fire safety in your business - your business! HFRS is committed to educating and informing all businesses on fire safety so come along and ask questions.”
Craig Baker, Head of Fire Safety Policy at Dorset Fire and Rescue Service, said:
“It is very important that we work closely not only with those people responsible for these types of accommodation but other agencies, to ensure residents and staff at these premises are safe should a fire occur. With large numbers of residents it is vital to ensure that these different types of property or locations comply with fire safety regulations and the proper plans and procedures are in place.”
Becky Reid, Marketing Manager for the Fire Industry Association said:
“The aim of these seminars is to alert all sleeping accommodation premises owners (no matter what size of business), building designers and consultants about the importance and benefits of incorporating fire safety management protection measures and help them provide a safe, worry free environment for occupants and staff alike.”
