Plug-Ins

A Plug-in is basically a small program that runs on your computer in order to make a web page do more than just display text and pictures - you can play games, read books and much more!

The Kidzone website contains a number of free, interactive elements that can be accessed either through your web browser or downloaded and used at leisure. This page guides you through the various 'Plug-ins' that may be required in order to get the full benefit from this site.

Flash Player

To make the games on this site work, you may need to download the Flash Player from Macromedia. If you try to play a game without having installed the Flash Player, your web browser will realise this and prompt you to download it.

You can also install it from the Macromedia Downloads Site.

Adobe Reader

Adobe Acrobat Reader allows you to view PDF (Portable Document Format) files online. A PDF is a file that has been saved in such a way as to preserve all of its formatting and layout and as such is most commonly used to access manuals and documents intended for print.

JavaScript

JavaScript is slightly different, in that it is not a plug-in to be downloaded. JavaScript is a programming language which allows greater interactivity to be added to otherwise static web pages. Some older browsers cannot support this language, although the vast majority can. Additionally, JavaScript can often be turned off in browsers.
