Organisational structure

The organisation and management of Community Fire Safety (CFS) work within Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service is the responsibility of the Deputy Chief Officer Director of Service Delivery and he is assisted by the Assistant Chief Officer Head of Community Safety.

The organisation is decentralised to five groups, each under the command of a Group Manager. Four of the groups (North East, Central, South East and South West) provide the delivery function of the department, where specialist Inspectors ensure that fire safety aspects of building design and use are adhered to correctly. Inspectors are engaged in activities ranging from design stage risk reduction with architects and designers, through to the enforcement of statutory regulations. Each delivery group has an office acting as the main point of contact, providing administrative support to all the Fire Safety Managers and Inspectors within that group. Further satellite offices staffed by Inspectors, are positioned strategically throughout the group area.

The fifth group (HQ) providing a support function to the delivery groups, the remainder of the service and members of the public, is based at Service Headquarters at Eastleigh.

The administrative boundaries of each fire safety delivery group are aligned with those of our local authorities thus providing a structure on which effective local working relationships can flourish.
