Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service has been facilitating NVQ's for over 10 years, and was approved as an NVQ Assessment Centre in May 1996.
NVQ's assess the skills that people show at work, and allows them to have their development recognised in the form of an award.
We currently offer the following NVQs :
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service maintains a network of Assessors (A1) and Verifiers (V1) to support and assess individuals in the service who are working towards an NVQ. NVQs are open to uniformed and non-uniformed members of HFRS. The number of NVQs managed by the centre is likely to increase with the imminent introduction of Technical Fire Safety based NVQs.
All new trainee firefighters are registered for Level 3 Operations in the Community after they have spent 3 months on station. The completion of this award is linked to their development programme and is an important step in their progress to becoming a fully qualified firefighter.
HFRS NVQ Standard Forms and Guidance Notes are available in word format from the following link : NVQ Forms.
A Question Bank for Emergency Fire Services Operations in the Community Level 3 are available from the following link : Question Sheets
