Support Staff
Every day we're helping to save lives - and not only by fighting fires. Behind the scenes there are lots of other roles that people don't see: the emergency response operators, administration teams, technicians and more. There's much more to Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service than meets the eye.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service currently employs in the region of 1800 staff. These include full-time, part-time and "job share" positions. Of this total approximately 300 individuals are classed as support staff. These people work in vital support and administration roles enabling the service to provide an efficient, cohesive rescue service as well as promoting safety throughout the community and training to commercial organisations.
These roles include:
- Numerous administrative positions throughout the county
- Information services staff
- Support managerial positions
- Community Safety teaching staff including one fully qualified teacher
- Technical engineers
- Hydrant technicians
- Telecommunications engineers
- Incident support teams
- Station support staff
- Caretakers
- Property Services staff eg painters
- Driver training instructors
- Occupational health staff including three qualified nurses
- Mechanics, auto-electricians, coach fitters and engineers
and many other specific individual positions.
