Retained Recruitment
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service have implemented the new Firefighter Selection tests as released by the Department of Communities and Local Government. These arrangements apply for the recruitment of all future Firefighters.
We operate recruitment on a continuous format thus enabling the Service to call upon potential candidates only when it has vacancies, however canidadates may submit their completed application form at any point in time. There is no specific closing date.
Candidates who have already submitted an application will shortly be advised as to whether they have been successful or unsuccessful. Please do not phone the HR Department for a progress update.
Any applications received are unlikely to be processed immediately, they will be logged and reviewed at a later date for our next intake of candidates. All applications received will be retained for a maximum period of 12 months.

The information you provide on your application form is the only information we will use in deciding whether or not you are to proceed to the next stage of the recruitment process. Previous applications and/or prior knowledge of you are not taken in to account, even if you already work for the Fire and Rescue Service. Therefore it is important that you take the time and complete the application form as fully and accurately as you can. Application forms can be handwritten or typed using a word processor. Many candidates fail the application stage because they do not read or follow the instructions. The instructions are there to advise you what we are looking for from candidates and help you to sell yourself, so please read them carefully.
