1 Payment of the allowances referred to in Paragraph 3.11.3 is subject to the following provisions:
That a member shall not take the opportunity to enhance his personal effects.
That the opportunity should not be taken to make housing improvements, eg, provision of kitchen cabinets and additional electric sockets.
2 All claims must be supported by receipts, and the following is a guide to those items which are allowable:
Curtains, 100% reimbursable.
Relaying of floor coverings, 100% reimbursable.
Conversion and installation of existing electrical appliances (including installation of automatic washing machine where one is currently owned), 100% reimbursable.
Gas supply installations, 100% reimbursable.
Carpets, £60 payable only under a 'no detriment' clause applying to former Hampshire Fire Service members in post prior to 1 January 1974.
Losses on school fees or uniform, travel season tickets, etc, 100% reimbursable.
3 The following items are not allowable:
Television aerial
Internal or external redecoration
Kitchen cabinets or additional shelving
New sink tops, baths, WCs or taps
External drainpipes and piping
Installation of central heating
4 Interpretation
4.1 Any member who is in any doubt as to his entitlement to an allowance or the amount thereof should submit his query in writing to the Chief Fire Officer.
4.2 No expenditure should be incurred on the assumption that it will automatically be reimbursed, unless it is strictly in accordance with the provisions of the preceding paragraphs of this Order.
