1.1 Radios are installed and normally removed by appointment with the radio engineers based at Workshops. However, officers may if they so wish carry out the removal themselves subject to strict compliance with the procedure below.
1.2 Communications Department are not equipped to install or remove radios.
2.1 The majority of the removal work is mechanical and should normally take about 1½ hours.
2.2 Main Control Lead
Is intact throughout installation and must remain intact during removal.
The 37 way connectors must not be cut off. The screws on the connector shell may be removed and the wires and plug can be taped together to enable careful removal.
2.3 DC Supply Lead (From Battery to 6 Way Socket)
It is also preferred to keep this lead intact but removal of the plug or fuse is permitted if necessary for removal.

2.5 Removed Items
All items of radio equipment including all cables and plugs should be returned to the Radio Engineer at Workshops via staff offices who will check that equipment is complete and undamaged.
