The Environment team consists of employees from a broad range of Fire Service departments including operational and non-operational.
Headed up by the Environmental Impact Project Coordinator, there are 30 members on the team, future and current environment projects have been allocated to different members.

Everything we do has an effect on our environmental impact. Hampshire Fire and Rescue have committed to reduce this impact. An international voluntary standard for environmental management systems is the definition of ISO 14001
As the environment covers every department with such a wide scope it would only be sensible to have an environmental mamangement system. This would include a policy, strategy and register containing all of our environmental aspects and impacts.
As you can imagine this involves a lots of work. We are working towards the goal of obtain the ISO by 2010, so watch this space...

Where can I recycle ?
At present all wholetime stations and headquarters have recycling facilities for paper, plastic and aluminium. Headquarters also recycle glass, batteries, printer cartridges and strip lights.
Why isn’t there recycling facilities for retained stations ?
This is being investigated and something we would like to introduce in the near future.
Could I join the Environmental Working Group ?
Yes the working group is made up of interested volunteers that are willing to put some time towards environmental projects. If you are interested please contact the Environmental Impact Project Coordinator.
